Hace pocos días fue anunciado el descubrimiento de una nueva especie de rana, en el Estado Carabobo, que ya está en peligro de extinción debido al deterioro del ecosistema donde habita.
Veamos: las coyunturas económicas, catalogadas como crisis, son oportunidades que abren a iniciativas positivas o a iniciativas riesgosas.
El "motor minero", ha ser desarrollado en el país se inserta en esas iniciativas riesgosas de las cuales, a futuro, podemos arrepentirnos y además sufrir las consecuencias.
Todo ambiente fluvial posee una sensibilidad ambiental alta. Si se interviene en su perímetro será inevitable que los efectos alcancen a los cuerpos de agua.
"Ríos de Suramérica", como iniciativa, no es solo una serie de viajes. Es, además una iniciativa ambiental y, en este sentido, es humanista y animalista en tanto pretende concientizar, de forma integral y no parcial.
Parte de la ruta de este primer viaje pasa por lo que han denominado "arco minero". Según los mapas, una extensa área que abarca, en extensión todo el Orinoco bajo.
Si realizo este viaje y no hago o digo algo al respecto, no me sentiré bien conmigo mismo.
En el pasado trabajé como consultor ambiental, incluso en actividades de perforación petrolera (costa afuera).
En este punto, llámese motor o como sea, no puedo acompañar a nadie.
La minería, sobre todo la de aluvión, es dañina. No hay manera de extraer el mineral sin destrozar el suelo, sin deforestar y sin contaminar. Sobre todo en mi país donde casi nada se supervisa.
